Eco IVF – Is it similar to Mini IVF? What you need to know.

Historically, IVF treatment has required large doses of fertility medication in order to stimulate a women’s ovaries to respond appropriately to treatment. At New Hope, we have found that newer protocols, like Eco IVF, can achieve similar success rates while using smaller doses of fertility medication in conjunction with a female’s natural hormone cycle.

What is Eco IVF?

Eco IVF is a version of an IVF protocol that uses lower doses of medication more customized based on your medical needs. Eco IVF goes by its more common namesake, Mini IVF. It can also be referred to as “Light IVF” and “Gentle IVF!”

Treatment begins with a fertility assessment and a review of your medical history to fully understand your unique care needs. Using this information, we are able to prescribe a gentle stimulation protocol that is uniquely customized to you.

What is the Eco/Mini protocol?

  • You are closely monitored by blood work and ultrasound on an ongoing basis to evaluate your body’s response to the medication and to chart your progression.
  • You will be given low doses of oral fertility medication to gently stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs.
  • We wait for your eggs to reach the desired maturation before retrieval.
  • Once mature, you will be given medication via nasal spray to allow us to time your ovulation and egg retrieval.

The goal of Eco/Mini IVF is to produce between three and five high-quality eggs that are high quality and healthy enough to be fertilized.

Once the retrieved eggs are fertilized in our lab using either your partner’s sperm or donor sperm, the resulting embryos are then monitored closely so that we can select the highest quality embryo to transfer back into your uterus – surplus embryos can be frozen for a future cycle!
