Jianming Li, PhD, HCLD
Dr. Jianming Li assumed the role of Director of Laboratories at New Hope Fertility Center in August 2008. He is certified by New York Health Department as a laboratory director in Andrology and Endocrinology, and is also a laboratory director in Embryology, certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB) as a high complexity laboratory director.
Dr. Li has been involved with assisted reproductive medicine, science and genetics for 30 years. His experience includes appointment as an embryologist and instructor in embryology at the Center for Reproductive Medicine at Cornell University-New York Hospital in New York (1995-1998), acting embryologist at Toll Center for Reproductive Science at Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania (1998-2000), and laboratory director at the Center for Human Reproduction in New York (2000-2008).
Dr. Jianming Li earned his Master of Science degree and Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology, specializing in in vitro fertilization and embryo development at Cornell University in 1992 and 1995. While at Cornell, he studied in a world-renowned embryology laboratory under distinguished professor Robert H. Foote. The National Institute of Health (NIH) granted his graduate student research in order to develop a culture system to overcome the development block of embryos in vitro. This research team made significant contributions to the establishment of the human embryo culture system, which has been used worldwide.
Dr. Li has authored dozens of scientific publications. His research interests include the development of embryo culture condition, oocyte cryopreservation, fertility preservation and improvement of IVF outcomes.
